Cemetery Monument donated By Corning Lions

The Corning Lions will celebrate its 100th anniversary of service in 2025. The members have been caring for the Gorton Cemetery on Park Ave. since 1989. As a gift to the City of Corning, in honor of its centennial anniversary, the club has placed a new monument in the cemetery. This monument lists all those buried there since the cemetery was begun in 1811 and their date of death. The last burial was in 1920. This monument is important as over the past century floods and other calamities have disturbed many of the graves and their stones resulting in some stones being displaced, unreadable, or even missing. These are pictures of this beautiful monument.
